Thank you to the Galtee Walking Club members for all your help and assistance with the Winter Walking Festival, especially the leaders and sweepers who led walks in awful weather conditions.
Despite the weather we had great feedback from those who attended. So thank you one and all and lets hope June will be much kinder to us.

I agree that a 'protest' should be made regarding the overhead pylons but I don't agree that it should be the club that makes it.

There are 140 MI affiliated hill walking clubs on this island (47 of those are in Munster). Most of those will have members that, at some stage, have walked on the Comeragh, Monavullagh, Knockmealdown and Galty Mountains.

I have seen very little comment/input from MI and I feel that it is they that should be expressing the views of their members. If there has been an official stance taken by MI, it has not been communicated to me.

There are numerous community groups that members could/should join and protest through but I don't think that it should be done in the name of the club.

Many people assume that the Winter Solstice Climb to Sliabh Riadh will be on the 21st Dec as normal. The date is changed this year to 22nd Dec at 7.30pm at the Church car park, Glenbrohane. This is due to the fact that the car park would be used on 21st for Sat night Mass.

Tomorrows walk start time is 11.30 from Murroe national school (turn right as you enter Murroe from Cappamore side) to accommodate people wishing to enjoy all male singing mass in Glenstal Abbey at 10am (abbey turn right at top of village in Murroe). You might also like to go for lunch in rugby player Peter Clohessys pub in Murroe (Crokers) afterwards.
